We've been out of the country visiting Jordan and Egypt, hiking slot canyons and box canyons, seeing petroglyphs and tomb paintings, hiking in the desert and sailing a felucca on the Nile.

What an amazing experience.

And yes, for everyone who wonder if we felt safe in those countries, yes we did. There was substantial security everywhere we went, including the Frankfurt airport on our way home. But we never once felt anything but welcome and safe wherever we went.

Tourism in Jordan has dropped 95% since October 7 of last year, and in Egypt it was down 60%. The result was very few crowds anywhere, and a warm welcome that exceeded any expectations we might have had before we arrived.

We'll post more in the next few days, including a day by day report and a complete photo log.
